We would like to take this opportunity to introduce you to our very own DJ & Producer that is none other than Jay Gunning.
This 16 year old, has without doubt had an amazing start to his career.
At the tender age of 13 and listening to the stories of his dads past DJ excursions, he decided to unpack his dads SL 1210s and open up the stack of record boxes that had been moved from one house to another and immerse himself in the art of mixing one track into another, and us here at “Jay Gunning Official . Com” HQ are absolutely delighted that he did just that.
In addition to running and promoting his own club nights in his hometown of Lanark, he entered his first competition at 15 and winning, was given the privilege of playing at the BPM Show at the NEC in Birmingham.
Later that year and with the word spreading, he was asked to play at the “Scottish Soulful Weekender” No 4 in the “So Chill Arena” on both the Friday and Saturday night and blew the roof right off and was the talk of the Weekender, so much so that he has been asked back to headline the Goldmine Room at this year’s Weekender in June.
It was at this event when none other than House Music Legend CeCe Rogers was headlining the main stage at the Weekender that he had heard Jay and was so impressed that after a 3 hour discussion, Jay was invited over to New York to collaborate with MOODLIFE, remix 3 tracks and sign these to CeCe’s and the one and only Marshall Jefferson’s Label USB Records NY, and star in his first music video that was filmed on location in Edinburgh and Manhattan in NY, which is due for release later this month.
He also had the privilege to meet none other than “Skittle Boy” BOOM there’s yir Dinner at the same Weekender and was asked to drop by the Groove City Radio Studio and do a 30min mix, this he did and as a result is now a member of the BOOM Radio Team and has presented the show himself on a couple of occasions and we can only see his radio career going from strength to strength.
He is currently in the studio working on some other new tracks with another house music legend, but it’s under wrap’s at the moment and we look forward to hearing more when its released and we are sure that all our “Jay Gunning Official . Com” fans will be the first to hear when Jay takes the stage.
While not content with just practising at home, Jay decided to do his own version of the “Boiler Room” and set up the “Attic Room Sessions” where every second Friday he invites a guest DJ to join him in his “Attic Room” studio for 4 hours of live-streamed madness that’s played out on both Vinyl and CDJs on his “Atticroom.tv” YouTube page where two of our other resident DJs Andy Lakey and Jamie Hendry have had the privilege to appear and are looking forward to getting the chance to do it all again and with Jay being asked to take the Attic Room Session’s on the road, who knows where this adventure and journey will end up, and we look forward to watching this talented young man’s career evolve on the world stage and wish him all the best in his future.
Ladies & Gentlemen, Boys & Girls, Without further ado, we give you, Jay Gunning.
Here is what some people had to say:
When I first met Jay, I admit I became very aware of his potential. His attitude, hunger, and love of music, and particularly his eagerness to listen and learn as much as possible will surely ensure his success. It has been a pleasure and honour to work with Jay and there is no doubt in my mind that this young man is destined for great things very soon. Keep up the good work nephew., USB Records NYC
